Chelsea are 20/1 to retain their Champions League crown with BetVictor after their penalty shoot-out success in Munich on Saturday evening. Barcelona and Real Madrid are the 4/1 joint favourites with Manchester City at 6s, and United 12 and Arsenal also 20/1.

Newcastle are 20/1 for the Europa League and we now know that Spurs 12/1 will also join Liverpool 10/1 in the competition next term.

City are 6/4 favourites to retain their Premier League title with United 9/4 and the Magpies 150/1 at BetVictor (each way 1/3rd 1, 2) and 14/1 to finish in the top four next season.

Sunderland are 1000/1 to win the Premier League title next season but only 10/1 to be relegated, which looks a big price to me when you consider their poor end to the season.

Newcastle are 66/1 to go down next term.

Bookmakers have largely dismissed the title aspirations of Alan Pardew's side despite their magnificent campaign in 2011/12 for which the manager was rightly named manager of the year by his peers at the League Managers' Association.

We now face the silly season when football journalists must speculate as to which players will be transferred ahead of the start of the new season.

A number of players have been linked with Newcastle already and below are the odds for certain players to make their way to the North-East this summer:

To sign for Newcastle before September 1: Victor Moses 11/1; Clint Dempsey 10/1; Michael Owen 25/1; Mohamed Diame 16/1; Joey Barton 33/1; Junior Hoilet 10/1

Owen has more chance of signing for Accrington Stanley than returning to Newcastle I would suggest and wouldn't recommend a penny on that 25/1 quote, even if there another three or four 0s after the five, but he is 16/1 to sign for Sunderland and Nicklas Bendtner is 10/1 to return to the Stadium of Light on a full-time basis.

We are also betting on whether striker Demba Ba will be on the move again this summer and make Liverpool and Chelsea 6/1 favourites, with Spurs 8s, PSG 10, Borussia Dortmund 12 and Arsenal and West Ham 16s.
