Skipper Phil Mustard's hopes of landing a second Twenty20 winner's medal of the winter ended in disappointment yesterday.

After leading the Mountaineers to victory in Zimbabwe's Stanbic Bank final by making 56 in the final against Mashonaland in December, Mustard was on the losing side in the Bangladesh Premier League final.

Despite an unbeaten 70 from his former Durham team-mate, Australian Brad Hodge, the Barisal Burners team lost by eight wickets to Dhaka Gladiators.

Mustard was out for five, lbw to Saeed Ajmal, but he had made his best T20 score of 88 not out, made off 58 balls, on his way to averaging 37 from eight innings in the series.

The organisation of the inaugural BPL has come under fire and it has been reported that players have not received the money they were promised.

Paul Collingwood will not be appearing in his second T20 final of the winter. After helping Perth Scorchers to the final of Australia's Big Bash, he has found himself skippering a less illustrious line-up in South Africa's domestic competition.
