DAVID BECKHAM has ‘‘no interest’’ in leaving Los Angeles Galaxy for West Ham – and has not yet given up on his dreams of becoming England’s most capped player.

Hammers co-owner David Gold had said he wanted to sign the 35-year-old and that discussions had taken place with the player’s agent.

But Beckham’s representatives say there has been no contact with the club.

A spokesman for Beckham said: ‘‘While it’s flattering to hear of interest there has been no contact with, or offer from, West Ham.

‘‘David is happy at the Los Angeles Galaxy and has no interest in leaving, and is looking forward to returning to the team on August 9.’’ Beckham is recovering from the ruptured Achilles tendon that kept him out of the World Cup, but believes he will play some part in the remainder of the MLS season.

The midfielder holds the record for the number of England caps by an outfield player – 115 – and has no plans to announce his international retirement.

Only former keeper Peter Shilton, who won 125 caps, has made more appearances for the national team and Beckham will continue to make himself available to England head coach Fabio Capello.

Beckham is back jogging but will have further tests next month to determine when he should return to full training.
