THAT master trainer of fillies Henry Cecil suffered a setback at the weekend but you can’t keep a good man down for long so expect him to bounce back with Aviate in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York.

While the defeat of Timepiece at Lingfield clearly left the Warren Place maestro puzzled, he still has much to look forward to with Aviate, who is unbeaten in two starts and could still enter the Oaks picture herself.

She was ridden with loads of confidence when winning her only juvenile start and showed she had progressed nicely through the winter with a smooth success in a conditions event at Ascot last month.

This is a step up in class and trip but 10 furlongs should be within her compass.

Whether she gets further only time will tell, but she rates an exciting prospect.

Anglezarke might just strip a fitter than some big names in the Duke Of York Blue Square Stakes.

Richard Fahey’s filly ran a blinder at Royal Ascot last year when with Tim Easterby, and can be forgiven a reverse at Bath on her first start for her new stable as she seemed to stumble on leaving the stalls.

A weight concession from all bar Showcasing is handy.

Fahey also holds a winning chance in the opening York City At Wembley With Blue Square Handicap.

The Musley Bank handler fields three in the 10-furlong heat but preference is for perceived third-string Sand Tiger, who gets a 3lb advantage courtesy of apprentice Barry McHugh.

The four-year-old was snapped up for 4,500 guineas at Tattersalls last October after winning one of two starts for Andre Fabre.

He was shipped off after failing to make a mark behind subsequent French Guineas winner Silver Frost in Group Three company last April and was a bit off the pace in two all-weather starts after switching to Britain.

Sand Tiger was gelded after those runs and the operation seemed to do the track as he proved a game head winner on his first turf start at Musselburgh.

Raised 4lb for that win, much of the extra burden is negated by his rider’s claim and he still looks pretty unexposed at this stage.

Round Won can take a slight step up in company in his stride in Bath’s Kent Plastics Classified Stakes.

William Knight’s charge broke his maiden last time and with the yard having been in such good form, he could make it a double.

There is a feast of jumps action to enjoy with Exeter, Fontwell and Perth all racing.

Folie A Deux is the choice in the Heavitree Brewery Handicap Chase at the firstnamed venue while Alaghiraar can feel the benefit of a recent outing in Fontwell’s Weatherbys Bank Beginners’ Chase.
