MARK JOHNSTON was the man to follow at Ripon yesterday, notching a 16-1 double via Dubai's Touch and Scotland Yard.
The stable have been unusually low key for much of 2005, but with a stack of winners over the past 48 hours, normal service has been resumed from the powerful Middleham yard.
Dubai's Touch certainly wasn't taking any prisoners in the opening EBF Maiden Stakes, streaking fully seven lengths clear of his nearest pursuer, the 3-1 market leader, Ghost Dancer.
"I've spoken to Mark, who was watching on TV at Royal Ascot and he was "delighted" with the win," revealed assistant trainer Jock Bennett.
Scotland Yard had to battle much harder to capture the 12-furlong Total Butler Handicap, responding well to a vigorous drrive from Royston Ffrench to beat stable-mate, Baltic Princess, partnered by Nicky Mackay.
The Ladies Derby went to Court Of Appeal, trained by Malton's Brian Ellison, and ridden by his daughter, Lorraine.
