CHRIS TURNER is certain a rest period for Denis Behan will do the striker the world of good.

And, with Adam Boyd and James Brown firing well together, Turner has enough options to allow the Irishman time to freshen up.

With his Cork City outings before moving to Pools in the summer, Behan is on the way to already playing the best part of a full season of football.

And, after struggling to make an impact in recent weeks, Turner was able to take the four-goal forward out of the picture for last weekend’s win over Orient.

James Brown’s return from injury saw him paired with Adam Boyd as Pools made it five games without loss.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to in-form Huddersfield, Turner said: “Brown and Boyd played well together. I left Denis on the bench, he’s played a lot of football and neither striker played well against Kettering the week before.

“I went with Boyd because he was up against his old club and that might give him a lift, Denis will be back and will be better for a little breather. He came on and still had a great chance, he’s a major asset.

“James is unplayable at times and the three of them will rotate at the right time and in the right manner.

“James has had some serious injuries and you have to be careful with him. It’s not so much physical, perhaps mental with him.

“Twinges or the like make him worry automatically, it’s natural.

“He will need rest and to be brought back in correctly, but the main thing is he played well last week and did what we asked of him in holding the ball up and bringing others into play.’’ Behan was also omitted from the reserve side for Tuesday’s game at Newcastle and Turner added: “Denis will get the benefit from not playing and whenever he comes back he will be biting at the bit to come back in.

“It’s not rotation, to play two miss two, he will be back in, there’s a lot of football to come yet, but will be back at the right time.

“If the two strikers play as well as they did on the last occasion week in, week out then it’s going to be difficult.

“They won’t be able to sustain that for nearly 30 games, no-one can do that. But they did well at times and held the ball up well to create some good situations.’’ Micky Barron’s youth team won 2-0 at Notts County, with goals from Chay Liddle and Callum Wilson in the FA Youth Cup. They will now meet Sheffield United at Victoria Park in round three.
