MARCUS Bent will go straight into the squad for Gordon Strachan’s first game in charge, at home to Plymouth, after joining Boro on loan from Birmingham City until December 28.
The 31-year-old is Strachan's first signing and his switch from Birmingham City adds to the manager's attacking options while Jeremie Aliadiere and Caleb Folan recover from injuries.
The Boro manager said: “I’m delighted to bring Marcus in. He brings us ability, strength, pace and experience. We have a young squad so his experience will be important and he has already made a good impression in training this morning.”
Bent said: “This is a good step for me. Middlesbrough are a big, established club and everything about the club is geared to going back up. The gaffer was a big influence on my decision too. He is very experienced and motivated, so I’m looking forward to playing for him.”
