DENIS BEHAN is confident he’s back on song after struggling with a bout of fatigue.

The Pool">Hartlepool United striker was on target in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Stockport, his first goal after three blank outings.

His spectacular 35-yard free-kick at Oldham on September 4 was followed by a dip in form, but the summer signing from Cork City was bubbling again at Edgeley Park.

It’s a feeling he is desperate to continue at Exeter City this afternoon.

Pools headed off for the south west with a confident squad after taking four points from two games in the last seven days.

“I’m delighted with the way it’s going, I’ve one in three which isn’t a bad ratio,’’ said the Irishman.

“I’ve played regular football which is great and Chris (Turner) has kept faith in me which is a great feeling for any footballer, even playing me through a little lull. Hopefully I’m through that now.

“The past couple of weeks I’ve been in a bit of a dip, but I’ve played something like 30 - 35 games with the Irish League season as well. I felt really good on Tuesday, I felt I could have played another 90 minutes at the end of it, I really did.

“So hopefully I’m through the lull and ready to go again.’’ Behan was Turner’s seventh summer recruit, and after such a summer of transformation at Victoria Park, he felt it was going to be November by the time the new-look team gels.

However, with 12 points and a comfortable mid-table berth, Behan feels the signs are promising.

“We are getting there as a team I feel,’’ he admitted. “We showed character against Wycombe the other week to get a goal and draw from behind and the other night we took that character to another level again with coming back from two goals down.

“We played at Colchester, lost 2-0, against a team with a very organised game plan.

Stockport played a different type of game altogether.

“Look what Colchester did on Tuesday, they beat Charlton, so it shows what we were up against and it took two penalties to beat us.

“We are a powerful team when we get going. I said the other week that come November we will be a really good team when we settle down and we are showing signs now.

“It took a lot of courage and bravery at Stockport to go at a team who had outplayed us in the first half the other night. We pushed on and outplayed them in the second half and got those goals.’’ He added: “I don’t really know the League that well because it’s all quite new to me.

But we go to Exeter confident because we’ve enjoyed a good week so far, put in a good 90 minutes at home and a good 45 minutes at Stockport.

“If we can get it to seven or nine points this week then it’s been a great week.

“It’s a massive trip for us, I’m used to long trips from back home in Ireland, but this one will test us.’’
