DARLINGTON have had to cancel next week's pre-season friendly match with neighbours Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough agreed to the request from Quakers' manager Colin Todd to cancel the fixture because injuries had dented his already small squad.

"It's very unfortunate that we've had to do this," admitted Todd. "It is very disappointing. From the club's point of view, this game was a valuable fixture, and it was an attractive match for our fans as well."

The Quakers' remaining pre-season friendly will be on August 1 away to Bradford Park Avenue.

All fans who have bought tickets for the Middlesbrough game can get refunds from the club's ticket office.
