No sooner had Andy Murray walked off the red dust of Roland Garros at the French Open, beaten in the third round 6-3 6-7 6-3 7-5 by Spain's Nicolas Almagro, than he was predicting glory on the green, green grass of home.
Murray believes he is ready to win Wimbledon this year and believes he will be one of the world's great clay-court players within the next couple of years.
He said: ''I'd love to win Wimbledon. I'm not saying it's going to happen. But I believe that if I play my best tennis I can win. I've won against a lot of the top players. Not as many guys play so well on grass.
''(Roger) Federer is for sure still the favourite to win but that's my goal.''
On clay Murray also had a warning for three-times French Open champion Rafael Nadal and the multitude of top class clay players.
He said: ''I play well on clay. To win against me on clay is a very good result. I'm not someone who's going to be taken lightly on this surface in the future.
''I'm going to be one of the top players on clay in a couple of years."
