Yorkshire wicketkeeper Gerard Brophy has urged the Tykes to convert their good one-day form into the longer version of the game ahead of today's County Championship clash with Lancashire at Headingley.

The White Rose county are on a high after reaching the quarter finals of the Friends Provident Trophy.

They now face a trip to Gloucestershire on Wednesday in the last eight - just two games away from a Lord's final.

But before that they face a crucial LV Division One fixture against their Roses rivals, with the chance of moving within striking distance of top spot.

And Brophy also believes the hosts have already got the psychological advantage following Wednesday's one-day washout at Headingley.

Lancashire were bowled out for just 89 after winning the toss and batting first on a bowler friendly track. The Red Rose were only saved the embarrasment of defeat by the weather.

Brophy said: "Winning is a good habit, and they are probably not as confident going into the game as we are. The more games you win, the better - especially against Lancs.

"There is always a bit of extra niggle, and an extra something on the game. The way the points table stands, if we win this game we can go right up to the top."

Skipper Darren Gough admitted after Wednesday's North Division game that he was unsure how his side would look today with the amount of injured bowlers at Headingley.

Ajmal Shahzad, Matthew Hoggard and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan all miss out. As does Steven Patterson, who took two wickets on Wednesday but needs to recover from a knee injury.

Ben Sanderson comes back into contention, while Oliver Hannon-Dalby should keep his place from last week's draw at Surrey.

Brophy, the 32-year-old South African, was in fine form with the gloves on Wednesday. He took three catches, including a stunning diving catch down the leg side to dismiss Francois Du Plessis off the bowling of Gough.

"I have had a couple of good games, a couple of bad games. I would just like to be more consistent," he said.

"I have done well with the gloves, but I would like to get some more runs. Hopefully that will happen this weekend."

The former Northants man added that he expects the conditions to be bowler friendly for the first couple of days.
