AFTER becoming the first player in the Premier League to pick up five yellow cards, Sunderland's Dickson Etuhu has been urged to become more street-wise or risk spending further time sat in the stands.

The £1.5m signing has been an ever-present since arriving from Norwich but he will serve a one-match suspension and misses tomorrow's visit of Blackburn.

Last weekend's booking against Middlesbrough followed previous cautions against Birmingham, Wigan, Liverpool and Luton, and his disciplinary problem has not gone unnoticed by manager Roy Keane.

And the manager wants to see a change in the Nigerian's approach when he is available again for next week's trip to Arsenal. Keane feels the midfielder needs to adapt his game to the top-flight or face further bans.

"A lack of experience is possibly costing him," said Keane, of a player called up for Nigeria's game with Mexico on October 14.

"I do believe that, especially in the middle of park, especially in the Premier League, the players seem a little wiser.

"If you play in the middle of the park you're clearly going to pick up bookings and be suspended but I didn't think he would be suspended so early in the season.

"That's disappointing and he will have to learn from that. He has to learn fast because before you know it he will be picking up another five cards.

"One or two of those bookings could have been avoided. They have not all been in dangerous areas. Sometimes there's a good booking but he's probably picked up one or two bad ones."

Etuhu's absence has limited Keane's options, given he already has a growing injury list that prevents him from naming a number of his top players.

There are hopes both Nyron Nosworthy and Russell Anderson will be available after knee and calf injuries respectively, but that is by no means a certainty.

Nosworthy, in particular, has become an integral part of Keane's first team but had to sit out last week's draw with Middlesbrough.

That is a far cry from the early stages of the Irishman's reign. "Nyron's done very well for me," said the Sunderland boss. "He was a right-back and we asked him to do a job last year at centre-half and the fans took to him.

"I don't think he even trained with the first-team squad in my first month. I had to look at certain things but he kept his head down when he was training with the young kids and the reserves and when he got his chance he took it."

While Nosworthy hopes to be fit to face Rovers, the game has come too soon for both Carlos Edwards and Andrew Cole.

Both players have made good progress with their respective back and calf problems but neither will play in the Premier League until after the international break, with the trip to West Ham on October 20 a possibility.

Keane, meanwhile, is taking a look at former Manchester City winger Kiki Musampa. The 30-year-old is free from contract after leaving Turkish club Trabzonspor and is training with the Black Cats. He could play in the reserves' fixture with Liverpool on Tuesday.

Tickets for Sunderland's eagerly-anticipated clash with Newcastle on November 10 will go on sale on October 15.

In order to ensure the safety and security of all supporters tickets may only be purchased by those supporters who have a valid membership number on the club's database.

Tickets will be limited to three per customer. Adults tickets are £25 in concession areas and £30 in all other areas of the Stadium. Under 16 tickets, proof of age required, are priced at £9
