Mbemba joined Newcastle from Belgian side Anderlecht in July 2015.
The 23-year-old made a total of 59 appearances for the Magpies, scoring once – on the final day of the 2016-17 Championship season when Rafael Benitez's side secured the title with a 3-0 win over Barnsley.
Mbemba links up with Porto in the week they welcome Newcastle to the Estádio do Dragão, with the two sides set to face each other in a pre-season friendly this Saturday.
