ENGLAND defender Luke Young was at Middlesbrough's training ground yesterday after Charlton agreed a £2.5m fee for the full-back, writes ADAM MURRAY.
The 28-year-old will undergo a medical over the weekend before completing a deal which will make him the Teessiders fourth permanent summer signing - following Jonathan Woodgate, Tuncay Sanli and Jeremie Aliadiere.
Young, who signed from Tottenham for £4m in 2001, has made more than 200 appearances for the Addicks.
Last week Charlton boss Alan Pardew admitted that he would not stand in the defender's way should a Premier League club come calling.
Young is keen to return to international football and felt his chances would be boosted by a return to the top-flight.
"I've got a lot of time for Luke and I appreciate he wants to play in the Premier League," said Pardew recently.
"If a decent club comes in and I thought the fee was right I'd let him go."
Charlton, meanwhile, have also agreed to sell Dennis Rommedahl to Dutch giants Ajax for £680,000.
