ROY Keane last night refused to be drawn on speculation linking Sunderland with a renewed £9m bid for Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Reports yesterday suggested the Wearsiders were about to break the British transfer record for a goalkeeper - and smash their own record fee paid - for Gordon.

But asked if there were any new developments after last night's 2-0 friendly win at Darlington, Keane replied: "None whatsoever."

However, the former Manchester United midfielder is confident of adding to the five players he has already brought to the Stadium of Light during the summer.

"We are hoping by next week to have three new players in place," said Keane. "If we get them three in I will be fairly happy."

Keane was a satisfied man after seeing his side mark their first game of pre-season with a victory at the Darlington Arena, thanks to goals from Ross Wallace and Anthony Stokes.

"It was a very good night and I thought the players played well," said Keane. "It was nice for the lads to get out and stretch their legs."

New signings Kieran Richardson, Michael Chopra and Dickson Etuhu watched last night's game from the stands, although Keane has hinted the trio could be involved at Scunthorpe on Saturday.

"We've got three or four lads who were here tonight who have just signed and hopefully we will see them involved for Saturday's game," said Keane.

"We will be making changes on Saturday and it will be another chance for players to increase their sharpness."
