Spennymoor Town 5 Coalville 0.

Spennymoor ruthlessly moved up to third place in the EvoStik Premier with a comfortable 5-0 home win over Coalville on Saturday.

Moors produced one of their best home performances of the season as they outplayed their visitors from start to finish, and keep the pressure on the other promotion contenders.

“I thought that we were exceptional and could have scored more,” said Ainsley. “As well as the goal, we had two strong penalty claims turned down, had a goal disallowed and hit the bar. We had countless chances.

“Coalville had won five out of their previous seven, so it was an important win. I can’t fault the lads – that’s nine goals we’ve scored in our last two home games.”

Moors had two penalty appeals turned down and efforts by Andy Johnson saved in the first 15 minutes before they took the lead on 24 minutes when Johnson crossed from the left for Micky Anderson to head home.

It was 2-0 on 33 minutes when Nathan Fisher’s shot was fumbled by the keeper and Glen Taylor netted from the rebound.

In the second half, Anderson, Taylor and Rob Ramshaw went narrowly close to adding to the lead before they broke through again on 73 minutes when sub Graeme Armstrong fired home from 20 yards.

Taylor made it 4-0 from a left wing cross with Armstrong also claiming a touch, and in the last minute Joe Tait cracked in a penalty after Armstrong was brought down.

Team: Lowson, Griffiths, Curtis, Tait, Watson, Ramshaw, Henry, Anderson, Johnson, Fisher, Taylor Subs; Mason, Armstrong, Mitchell, Dowson, T White Blyth Spartans are now six points clear at the top of the table after they hammered Mickleover Sports 7-1. Shaun Reid scored a hat trick, with Jordan Laidler (2), Jarret Rivers and Dan Maguire getting the others.

Whitby are second after they beat nine man Buxton at the Turnbull Ground. Dale Hopson and Stephen Snaith had them 2-1 ahead, before Buxton had two men sent off but still levelled through on loan striker Liam Hardy. Kieron Weledji and Matty Tymon then scored for Whitby.
