1-0: Fletcher (10, moved to meet M’Vila’s low centre before applying clinical first time shot)
2-0 Lens (22, brilliantly chipped Adrian from 20 yards after being played though by M’Vila)
2-1: Jenkinson (45, darted in to the box to power Moses’ centre low in to the centre of Pantilimon’s net)
2-2: Payet (60, reacted first to finish a loose ball after Pantilimon and made a mess of Lanzini’s shot from distance)
Bookings: Noble (2, foul); Reid (24, foul); Lens (33, foul); Cresswell (36, foul); Cattermole (43, foul); Jenkinson (72, foul); Coates (74, foul)

SUNDERLAND (4-2-3-1):
4 Pantilimon: Lacked his usual composure and guilty of a blunder which led to Payet’s equaliser;
6 Yedlin: A dangerous addition to the starting line-up and he also did his fair share of defending adequately
6 Coates: Cleared his lines when he could to give Sunderland some much needed space at the back at times
7 O’Shea: Made a number of early blocks and tackles to put Sunderland on course for an improved performance
6 Jones: Out of position but still put in the work to try to keep the Hammers at bay;
7 Cattermole: Led by example when Sunderland needed him at the start and he kept plugging away from there on in
8 M’Vila: Created both goals with his vision and it will be hoped M’Vila’s injury is not too much of a problem;
6 Lens: Went from hero to zero by following up a wonderful goal with a stupid red card
7 Toivonen: A real nuisance when Sunderland were in full flow but was worn out in the second half and had to be replaced
7 Borini: Should have scored a couple of times but has given Sunderland an extra edge in the final third
8 FLETCHER: His best performance for Sunderland in months and led the line exactly how a lone striker system needs him to
Subs:
Larsson (for Toivonen 84)
Rodwell (for Fletcher 85)
Gomez (for M’Vila 90)
(not used): Mannone (gk), van Aanholt, Brown, Defoe.
WEST HAM (4-2-3-1): Adrian 7; Jenkinson 7, Reid 5 (Collins 65, 5), Tomkins 5, Cresswell 6; Kouyate 5, Noble 6 (Zarate 79); Lanzini 7, PAYET 8, Moses 6 (Jelavic 58); Sakho 5. Subs: Randolph (gk), Obiang, Antonio, Oxford.
MAN OF THE MATCH: STEVEN Fletcher – if this was the start of a good run form then Sunderland could have the striker to lead them away from relegation trouble.
