Spennymoor’s unbeaten record will be put to the test when Clitheroe visit the Brewery Field today in the EvoStik First Division North.

Moors are unbeaten in their six league and FA Cup matches so far and are sixth in the table, but Clitheroe are a place and a point above them.

Manager Jason Ainsley said: “Clitheroe are coming here full of confidence after their good start to the season. They have already won away from home once this season, at Droylsden, which is no mean feat.

“We have to make sure that we win, and not drop out of the promotion pack.”

Ainsley will definitely be without striker Glen Taylor because of a toe injury, while Danny Frost is struggling with a foot injury. Recent signing Michael Hogganson is also missing because of appendicitis.

“We haven’t had much continuity because of the injuries. Frosty has only played 18 minutes of the first game, and Glen injured his toe at home.”

However, Ainsley is delighted with his current strikers, Liam Henderson and Nathan Fisher. “Their workrate and commitment have been excellent, and they’ll probably start today.”
