Spennymoor have signed midfielder James Risbrough on a two year contract, their fourth signing of the summer.

Risbrough was part of the Guisborough team that finished third in the EBAC Northern League last season, and during the summer has been playing for Ytterhogdals IK.

Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley said; “James is a player I have kept a close eye on for a while and is a very athletic wide player who will bring pace and strength to our side which is something I feel we are missing and at 6’2" he will be a big presence on the pitch which is something this league demands.

“James has the desire to keep progressing as a player and at 22 he still has the opportunity to do this and I know the supporters will make him feel welcome.”

Risborough, who has also played for Newton Aycliffe, said; “I am delighted to have signed for Spennymoor Town as I see it as a club that are ambitious and that matches my character, I was delighted with Jason after meeting with him and his plans for me as a player and I know I can produce his expectations of me on the pitch.”

Moors have also signed keeper Dan Lowson, striker Glen Taylor and defender Jordan Robinson during the close season.

Meanwhile, Moors have reluctantly .placed midfielder Andrew Stephenson on the transfer list.

Stephenson was one of Moors’ best players last season when they reached the play offs, and the season before was one of their star players when they won the FA Vase.

Stephenson has asked for a transfer because of work commitments.
