NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-1-4-1):
7 Krul: Made a number of good saves, even if he will be disappointed to have conceded the first;
7 Janmaat: Often the driving force again and Newcastle will do well to keep hold of him this summer
6 Williamson: Almost scored and looked more comfortable reunited alongside Coloccini in the middle of the back four
6 Coloccini: Looked happy to be back in the side and could be heard directing things like a captain should
6 Anita: Started promisingly in his less preferred left back role even if he made way in the second half;
6 Taylor: Could not be faulted for the effort he put in after being asked to play the holding midfield role;
4 Gouffran: Almost created an early opener before he was guilty of the error which led to Chadli scoring
7 COLBACK: Pounced to pull Newcastle level with a crisp finish from inside the area, even if parity was only short-lived
5 Abeid: Was always willing to get involved and unfortunate to be one of two to make way at the break;
6 Cabella: Had an encouraging first half but faded after the restart which did not help the Magpies;
7 Perez: Came close to scoring early on and involved in Colback’s equaliser
Subs:
Ameobi (for Gouffran 46): Provided Newcastle with the lift straight after half-time. 6
Obertan (for 46): Tried a couple of times to beat his man and failed. 5
Armstrong (for Anita 75)
(not used): Elliot (gk), Riviere, Kemen, Sterry, Woodman (gk).
TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1): Vorm 7; Dier 6, Vertonghen 7, Fazio 6, Rose 6 (Davies 81); Paulinho 6 (Mason 88), Bentaleb 5; Lamela 6, CHADLI 8 (Dembele 78), Eriksen 6; Kane 6. Subs: Soldado, Yedlin, Townsend, Friedel (gk).
MAN OF THE MATCH: NACER Chadli – provided the game’s first bit of magic to put Tottenham on their way to further deflate Newcastle fans.
