Spennymoor will give new signing Lewis Hawkins his debut as they hope to climb back into the play off positions with victory over Radcliffe Borough on Saturday.

Because of their recent inactivity, Moors have dropped down to seventh in the table, but they have games in hand on all the clubs above them, and manager Jason Ainsley is hoping that 21 year old Hawkins will be a useful addition to the squad as they prepare for a hectic schedule of fixtures over the rest of the season.

“I’ve kept my eye on Lewis for a while,” said Ainsley. “When I was offered the chance of signing him, I spoke to several people at Hartlepool, and they all gave me glowing reports about him.

“To me, if you have an opportunity to bring somebody in from a higher level, then you have to take it. He’s come along at the right time.”

Hawkins who has made 13 appearances for Pools, will probably go straight into today’s starting line up, as Moors are stretched to the limit in terms of bodies.

“It’s an ideal opportunity for those players who aren’t regulars in the team to stake a claim,” says Ainsley.

Striker Nathan Fisher and winger Anthony Peacock are both injured, while skipper Chris Mason, defender Dan Groves and striker Gavin Cogdon are all unavailable.
