SPENNYMOOR manager Jason Ainsley will give his fringe players an outing when they go to Ossett Albion for their Doodson Sports League cup tie tonight.

Ainsley was furious with the performance of his some of his players in the 6-1 defeat by Bamber Bridge on Saturday, and was so upset that he briefly considered resigning from the job he has held at the Brewery Field for eight years.

However, he remains in charge, and said: “It was the manner of defeat which upset me but hopefully it's had the same effect on the players and they bounce back. This team will be a mixture of lads who haven't had much game time and young lads who have done well in the reserves.

“On reflection, we have been beaten this season by Warrington, who are in the second round of the FA Cup, Darlington, who finished second in the league last season, Telford from the Conference and still in the FA Cup; and Bamber Bridge who were in the play offs last season.”
