YORKSHIRE batting trio Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Gary Ballance have been recognised by the International Cricket Council for their excellent form throughout the last year.
Root and New Zealand overseas star Williamson have both been named in the ICC’s Test team of the Year, while left-handed Ballance has been nominated for their Emerging Player of the Year award.
Ballance is up against international team-mate Ben Stokes and New Zealand all-round duo Corey Anderson and Jimmy Neesham for the award.
The award is based on their performances from August 26, 2013 to September 17, 2014, and they will be announced next Friday.
ICC Test team of the Year: Warner, Williamson, Sangakkara, Root, de Villiers, Mathews, Johnson, Broad, Steyn, Herath, Southee.
ICC One-day team of the Year: Hafeez, de Kock, Kohli, Bailey, de Villiers, Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Faulkner, Steyn, Shami, Mendis.
