Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley said that he was very proud of his players and the travelling fans at the Buck’s Head tonight.

Moors went out of the FA Cup to three second half goals against Telford – only the second time they have lost away from home this season – but Ainsley was far from downhearted.

“We had to really dig in during the first half. Maybe it was the long journey, but our passing wasn’t very good in the first half. Our defending was excellent though and we kept ourselves in the game.

“They scored around about the hour mark, and so we sent on Gavin Cogdon, and he changed the game. He caused them all sorts of problems. We hit the bar and hit the post – Joe Tait was dead unlucky from a free kick. At 1-0, it looked as if we would score next.

“But then we gave a free kick away when we were on top, and they scored.

“To be honest, Telford were the better team by far, they were a better team than they were last Saturday.

“I was really proud of my players for giving the game a right good go in the second half, and there was some great support from the fans. We gave them something to shout about in the second half. For 150 of them to make a long journey on a Tuesday night and sing their hearts out is fantastic.”
