Spennymoor’s 100 per cent away record faces its toughest test yet when they go to Warrington on Saturday.
Moors have won five away games this season – at Tadcaster and Bishop Auckland in the FA Cup, and Ossett Town, Padiham and Brighouse in the Evo-Stik League – but this will be their toughest game yet against last season’s beaten play off semi finalists.
“They’ve strengthened their team quite a bit in recent weeks, and they’re a better side than they were at the start of the season,” said manager Jason Ainsley. “Every time we’ve been and watched them, they’ve been better than the time before.
“But we will go there full of confidence, because our away form is very good. We’re scoring a few goals, and I believe we’re getting stronger as the season progresses. It’s certainly a game to look forward to.”
Midfielders Anthony Peacock and John McReady, plus striker Craig Lynch are all definitely missing because of injury, while striker Andrew Johnson, who has steadily pushed himself back into the reckoning in the last fortnight, is unavailable.
