SHILDON are annoyed with themselves for failing to see off visitors Whitby Town in the FA Cup. The sides drew 1-1 in Saturday’s first qualifier and must replay by the seaside on Wednesday.

The County Durham outfit had plenty of chances and took the lead with Ben Wood’s 25-yarder. Whitby levelled through Liam Sheppard.

Shildon were on top in the second half, Paul Connor, Lee Paul Scroggins and Chris Emms having good chances.

Hosts’ boss Gary Forrest said: “We are annoyed with ourselves because we should have made sure with the chances we had. They had one chance and scored from it. We will go into the replay with no fear.”

Newcastle Benfield beat guests Bridlington Town 3-1.

Benfield took the lead through new signing Dan Taylor. Paul Brayson fired the second, this from a Mark Convery pass, and then hit the bar. Brid pulled one back but Brayson settled nerves when he converted a late penalty after he was fouled by keeper Adam Nicholson.

Consett went out 2-0 at Evo- Stik League Premier Division outfit Workington. But Consett were unhappy about a penalty decision not going their way when they were 1-0 down.

Workington took the lead with a superb goal from Adam Telfer. He cut in from the left and drilled home with his right foot. But Consett were aggrieved when Josh Gray was felled on the edge of the area. The advantage came to nothing, and Workington went straight to the other end and made it 2-0 through Kyle May.

Dunston UTS and Marske replay tomorrow after they drew 2-2 at Mount Pleasant.

Marske’s Jamie Owens missed a good chance to put his team into the lead but Darren Hollingsworth scored with a 25-yarder. Dunston hit back with two goals in three minutes, Michael Dixon heading home and Scott Fenwick converting a penalty.

But in first-half stoppagetime, Owens netted from close range.

Dunston’s Dan Halliday was dismissed in the second half.

Ashington conceded a lastgasp equaliser to Scarborough Athletic. The sides will replay tomorrow.

Glen Taylor fired Ashington in front but Jimmy Beadle equalised. Taylor struck again but Beadle made it 2-2 three minutes into stoppagetime.

West Allotment Celtic lost 5-0 at home to Lancaster City.
