HARROGATE'S Sophie Taylor claimed the biggest win of her career as she won a Commonwealth Games gold medal in the final of the 100m breaststroke.
Taylor, who is a member of the City of Leeds club, shattered the British record as she took gold ahead of Jamaica's Alia Atkinson.
The 18-year-old claimed the lead at the halfway stage, and powered through the final 50m to announce her arrival on the world stage in spectacular fashion.
Taylor was still competing a junior level last season, winning a gold medal in the 100m breaststroke in the World Junior Championships in Dubai, and tonight's success marks her out as a strong medal prospect for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
