A massive celebration of cycling event is being held in North Yorkshire for the Grand Depart, the official organisers have announced, the only one of its kind outside London.
Velo Go Go sets up Fan Parks, events that run alongside the Tour de France. They’ve revealed they’re planning a four day festival from July 3 to July 6, which will be held next to the finish line in Harrogate.
The fan zone will have live action big screens, with cycling games, cinema nights, party nights, live music and celebrities.
There will also be a foodie festival, pop up gastro food and street food vendors as well as bars.
Leader of Harrogate Borough Council, Cllr Anthony Alton said: “We have been in negotiations with Velo-GoGo over the past few months and I am delighted that everything has now been agreed. This is just the best news. We had always planned to have a fan zone on West Park Stray but this takes it to another level and it also gives businesses the chance to get involved too.”
