GUS POYET has made his second signing in as many days, with the capture of Wigan’s Jordi Gomez.
The Spanish midfielder, Barcelona-born and a free transfer, has agreed a three-year contract at the Stadium of Light and follows West Bromwich Albion defender Billy Jones in moving to Wearside.
The 29-year old began his career in his native Spain, rising through the youth ranks at FC Barcelona, before moving to RCD Espanyol in 2007, where he spent two years.
A successful loan spell with Swansea City in 2008 brought a permanent switch to Wigan, following his boss Roberto Martinez to the DW Stadium from South Wales.
He scored 11 times in the Championship last season and was part of the Latics’ FA Cup winning-side in 2013.
