Promoter Dennis Hobson said: “We have been robbed of a bit of drama. It means the first time in history a world title of two North-East kids together and we’ve been robbed.''

Hall, of Darlington, admitted: “I’m gutted how it’s turned out, the crowd have been robbed of a great fight. It happens and I don’t know what to say, it’s one of those things.''

Challenger Ward, from West Rainton, said: "It was going to be a hell of a fight. He feels deprived of showing his world class and I feel deprived I haven’t been able to prove I’m at the same level and I believe I am.''

Press conference about to take place with Hobson and Hall. Ward is still completing his drug test procedure.

There's a real feeling of disappoinment inside the Arena. All that build-up and excitement and it ends flat.

Accidental clash of heads means Hall keeps the belt on a technical draw.

STUART Hall has retained his IBF bantamweight title.

Ward's corner has stopped the contest at the start of the second round.

The cut above his left eye deemed to severe and Hall is still world champion.

Ward is devastated. It was from an accidental clash of heads rather than left hand and it has been made a technical draw.

The main event has started.

Round 1

impressive start from the champion. Hall landed a couple of early blows but left Ward bleeding on his nose what looked like a strong left. Suggestions there could have been a head collision.

Echo scorecard: HALL 10 WARD 9

Bradley Saunders has stopped Prince inside four rounds with an explosive display in front of his fans.

He had Prince down twice in the fourth  before the Scotland boxer missed his left hook and ended on the floor again.

The referee stepped in and it was game over for Prince. Saunders still unbeaten.

Now for the main event ... Hall v Ward.

Great opening round from Saunders.

A fine left hook earlier in the round started things off and Prince suffered two standing counts before the bell.

Bradley Saunders has started his quest to remain unbeaten against Mitch Prince. Huge following for Sedgefield's Saunders tonight in the Arena.

Next up Bradley Saunders followed by the Stuart Hall-Martin Ward world title fight.

Jon-Lewis Dickinson has claimed the Lonsdale Belt. He has defeated Neil Dawson with a stoppage.

The Birtley boxer took command of the tenth round with a series of clinical left and rights to stop Dawson after 2mins 33secs of round ten.

> Paul Fraser

World Cup winner Jack Charlton sat ringside keeping an eye on Dickinson.

Through six rounds now and Dickinson ahead. Lonsdale Belt heading for Tyneside at the half way stage, but work still to do.

Decent start made by Dickinson. Stronger in the first round and composed in the second so far.

For the first time tonight there's plenty of chants and shouts from the crowd. Atmosphere building.

The Northern Echo:

I'm in place for a feast of top class boxing at the Metro Radio Arena.

Darlington's Stuart Hall is due in to the ring to defend his IBF bantamweight crown against West Rainton's Martin Ward at 10.30.

Low key atmosphere at the moment, but sure to hot up later when the North-East boxers get going.

Martin's brother Tommy has already been in to start the night. He defeated Qasnin Hussain on points.

in the other three early bouts, Jay Harris and Ross Burkinshaw both won. Dave Allen drew with Bulgarian Plamen Nickov.
