HARTLEPOOL UNITED romped to their third away win in a week, as they thumped Exeter 3-0.
After victories at Mansfield and Sheffield United, Pools have scored eight times and conceded only one – and that a penalty.
Exeter, like Mansfield seven days earlier, started the game in third spot in League Two, but were comprehensively beaten.
Pools took the lead when Jack Compton worked a short corner and crossed for Jack Baldwin to glance a header home.
But they had to wait until the 50th minute for their second, Compton again the provider.
He sent over a crossfield pass for Luke James in the area and, despite being clattered by keeper Artur Krysiak, he lobbed the ball home under pressure.
Ten minutes later, Compton drilled in the third from close range to complete the rout.
Exeter didn’t make Scott Flinders save anything until the 86th minute, and John O’Flynn’s tame header was no bother.
