CONTRIBUTER had to settle for second at Chester this month but can get back on the winning trail in the Casco Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood.
Ed Dunlop’s charge came off second best to impressive winner Magician in a Dee Stakes that turned into something of a tactical battle, but he lacked the necessary change of gear to beat the speedy victor.
Magician is viewed as a serious Classic candidate by the Ballydoyle team, so his four-length defeat cannot really be counted as too much of a disappointment.
Contributer had previously won a conditions event over 10 furlongs at Ascot, beating Cruck Realta by just over a length, with that one subsequently going on to show up well in a couple of Listed outings.
