Pardew makes three changes for Anzhi test
7:13pm Thursday 14th March 2013 in Sport
PAPISS CISSE will spearhead a three-man attack as Newcastle United look to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League against Anzhi Makhachkala at St James' Park tonight.
It's win or bust for the Magpies after last Thursday's goalless draw in Moscow and Cisse will be supported by Sylvain Marveaux and Moussa Sissoko in a three-man attack.
There's no place in the squad for Danny Simpson, though, but Shola Ameobi has passed a late fitness test and he takes his place on the bench.
Vurnon Anita will play alongside Cheik Tiote and Yohan Cabaye in midfield, while left-back Massadio Haidara will be hoping to build on an impressive start with Davide Santon moving to right-back.
With the sides locked together after their first-leg stalemate, a winner must be decided tonight, meaning the prospect of extra-time and penalties.
Newcastle United (4-3-3): Elliot; Santon, S Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara; Anita, Tiote, Cabaye; Marveaux, Cisse, Sissoko.
Subs: Harper, Perch, Bigirimana, Obertan, Gutierrez, Campbell, Shola Ameobi.
Anzhi (4-3-3): Gabulov, Eschenko, Joao Carlos, Zhirkov, Ewerton, Jucilei, Carcela-Gonazlez, Ahmendov, Diarra, Boussoufa, Eto'o.
Subs: Pomazan, Aglarov, Tagirbekov, Shatov, Logashov, Traore, Smolov.
