FORMER Newcastle United skipper Kevin Nolan returned to St James' Park for the first time as a West Ham United player – and then struck the winner.

Nolan was on hand seven minutes before half-time to turn a lowly driven shot from Joey O'Brien beyond Magpies goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Despite chances at both ends, Nolan's winner meant Newcastle have now won just one of their last six matches in the Premier League.
