TO complain about the BBC after its magnificent coverage of the Olympic Games may not be the fashionable thing.
However, during the competition it seemed unable to decide how to spell the word medalist. Sometimes it had it with a double “l” while at others the single “l” was used.
Medalist is correctly spelled either way and The Northern Echo employs one “l”.
But which is the BBC’s house style?
