IT would appear that my pointing out that Pete Molloy is not from Spennymoor has caused him some distress (HAS, Aug 31).

It is interesting the things he did not challenge from my reply about the merger of two secondary schools in the town: the educational benefits, the problems caused by the loss of Building Schools for the Future funding, the key role of governors in moving forward with this merger.

Councillor Neil C Foster (Lab), Tudhoe.
I WAS involved with broadband speed problems at Byers Green about four years ago after receiving complaints from people who run a business from home.

I have experienced similar problems in Spennymoor and more recently, an ambulance could not pick up signals on its computer while attending an emergency. Durham County Council’s head of ICT tells me that an announcement will be made soon.
Councillor Ben Ord (Lib Dem), Spennymoor/Middlestone.
