I WAS most disgruntled when booking for a show at Darlington’s Civic Theatre to be told I would be charged £1.75 for payment by debit card.
I always understood that a debit transaction means the cash gets into the recipient’s account within minutes – probably quicker than cash proferred, counted and tilled.
So I paid cash instead.
Though the sum involved is not huge I object to blatant profiteering. There must be more subtle ways of conning the public.
