I WAS interested to read Stuart Arnold’s article about the declining use of cheques in the banking system (Echo, Sept 6).
As someone who uses mail order as a means of purchasing goods, my preferred method of payment has always been by cheque.
With the use of first class postage, the payments I send are received on the following day.
I find this to be an efficient way of doing business and am pleased that the Treasury Select Committee is doing all that it can to retain the system.
