I AM starting to sense we may all be in for a lot rougher ride than any of us working people could ever anticipate. After working all my adult life and trying to re-educate myself by doing a journalism course, I have found myself with no job, therefore no income and, because my partner works, no benefits.
Well, I can tell any Conservative Party member I am more than capable of working and recently I applied for 40-plus jobs in one week alone.
I have experience, talent and am willing to work yet I cannot get a job. Believe me, I have applied for everything I am capable of doing.
We are living in a world of haves and have-nots. We always have been, but what is scary is that it is going to get much worse.
I know many people are living on benefits. I do not envy them, but I will be in the same situation myself if I do not get a break.
So I would like to inform David Cameron with his newborn child, who is supported by the taxpayers and fed and watered to the highest standard, that my child benefit and our working and child tax credits are all that stop us from selling our terraced, not-so-grand house.
Clare Porter, Darlington.
