SINGER Eddie Fisher, who has died at the age of 82 (Echo, Sept 25), was one of the best vocalists of the Fifties. I remember him having a hit with Cindy, Oh Cindy, in 1957.
He said at the time he wanted to record songs that carried a message and quoted Pat Boone’s Love Letters in The Sand as an example.
He belonged to a select band of really good crooners that included Perry Como, Dick Hames, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. He was a fine singing talent.
