GIVE DURHAM CITY A COUNCIL ONCE again a delay has been announced in the decisions on electoral boundary changes in and around the City of Durham because “new information provided by Durham County Council has shed more light on how many electors are forecast to be living in each ward in the coming years (Echo, July 5).

So I presume that, again, a decision on a town council for Durham City will be put on hold by the county council with the outcome that the city’s residents will continue to have no voice over real local issues.

With The County Durham Plan under “consultation”, it is vital the city has a say in its future and that the views of the wider county are not allowed to lead to the urbanisation and industrialisation of our beautiful city.

We have already seen how little the county council listens to its residents. Let’s lobby the council to give us a real voice in the city. Give us a town/city council.
