LAST Sunday, on a visit to my home town of Darlington, we visited South Park. What a shock I got. I was totally dismayed to see weeds 3ft high in the rose beds near the bowling green.
We then walked to the rose garden, or should that be the “weed garden”? What a shocking sight – all the beds there were covered in weeds. Total neglect.
In my younger days, South Park was, indeed, the jewel in the crown, and now it looks uncared for. Frankly, this is a disgrace when we recall the amount of money which was spent on South Park’s refurbishment.
Please, please get the gardeners back on duty and show us again that someone, somewhere cares about what once was a beautiful place to be.
