IN the passage of time, women have played an important part in different roles and situations and since they were allowed to vote in the early part of the 20th Century they have come more to the fore.

During the First and Second World Wars, without women working on the land, in the factories, manning coastal gun batteries, driving, nursing, etc, this country would have stood still. We had women spies working against the Nazis, who suffered untold tortures by the Gestapo.

So why all this hoo-ha against the election of women bishops?

Today, we have women vicars, MPs, barristers, business executives, surgeons and doctors.

Wake up male objectors in the Church of England.

Today is supposed to be about sex equality, not male domination. As church membership is declining we need everybody to pull together, not argue among themselves like children.
