I AM pleased that the mad pheasant of Newsham has finally calmed down and found love (Echo, April 5).
After first reading about this insane cock in The Northern Echo, a few people got worried, including myself. So much so that I was going to travel down to the North Yorkshire village with my friends, Frank Bowman and Graham Ellis, to try and capture the brute with a huge butterfly net.
What a wonderful way to spend Easter, by reading that love is in the air and that good things come to those that wait, instead of having to read about the bores of politics and global hatred.
Be at peace, my pheasant friend, and have fun with the hens.
Christopher Wardell, Darlington.
