SO, the Londonderry statue has been taken away for “cleaning” (Echo, Oct 29). My wife was lucky enough to be present and got a number of photographs of the loading work, including Lord Londonderry’s head being removed. The alleged destination for this cleaning is London, but the rear of the transporter clearly stated “Convoi Exceptionnel”.

Anyone taking bets on that being the last we see of the statue in Durham Market Place?
