I REFER to your story headlined, “Sex on the beach man: ‘Wrong place at wrong time’” (Echo, Dec 30).
The story about the British businessman Vince Acors being convicted of public indecency on a beach in Dubai brought back memories of the soap star Gillian Taylforth, who was unsuccessful in her attempt to sue a national tabloid newspaper which reported her being involved in a sexual act with her boyfriend in their Range Rover in a slip road lay-by.
As a result, she had to pay legal expenses running into hundreds of thousands of pounds.
The moral of both stories is not to indulge in a sexual act in a public place, regardless of whether it is on a beach in a country in the Middle East or a roadside lay-by in this country.
