I AM astounded at the number of "not in my name" war protestors opposed to the fact that Britain and America removed the tyrant Saddam Hussein, who now seem to be calling for military intervention in Burma.

I support the removal of the Burmese junta on the same grounds I supported our intervention in Iraq.

The Burmese people are being subjected to oppression and even genocide, just as the Iraqi people were before they were liberated.

It is not the first time the selfrighteous liberals have shown hypocrisy. In their desperation to prove their liberal credentials their views are almost never consistent.

There are numerous examples.

Smoking cigarettes - should be banned. Smoking cannabis - should be legalised. Scottish/Welsh Nationalists - patriots to be celebrated. English Nationalists - racists to be condemned.

They insult the sensitivity of others by imposing what they decide is acceptable on us, contrary to the fact it causes conflict and division.

They claim to promote equality, and then demand more women and ethnic minorities are fast-tracked through life.

Their view that people have a right to exist in peace and security and their compassionate defence of asylum seekers does not seem to apply to Jews in Israel.
