I REFER to your story, "Mills divorce claims less than candid, says judge", (Echo, Mar 19) and Sharon Griffiths' comments about the McCartneys' divorce settlement (Echo, also Mar 19).

It is clear now why Heather Mills wanted to stop the publication of the divorce judgement and her financial claims against Sir Paul McCartney.

I believe this judgement has exposed her as a money-grabbing gold-digger.

Young attractive ex-models will continue to be attracted to ageing, wealthy and famous pop stars and actors. Does anyone honestly believe that if the ageing Rod Stewart was unemployed and living on benefit that a beautiful young woman, Penny Lancaster, would look at him twice?

If Sir Paul had done the same as the actor Michael Douglas and had a pre-nuptial agreement he would not have had to pay out £23.4m now.

There is a true saying: a poor man has one advantage over a rich man, that he can be sure his partner stays with him for what he is and not for what he's got.
