FURTHER to the letter entitled “Entitlement” criticising Dame Margaret Hodge's alleged reaction to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s failure to address anti-Semitism within the party (HAS, Aug 6), the reality is simply this: if the leader had reiterated the so-called universal definition on anti-Semitism immediately then this saga would have been stopped in its tracks.

What we now find is deputy leader Tom Watson and Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell are jumping on this critical bandwagon.

What should have happened is someone close to the leader should have said: “Nip this in the bud, Jeremy, and let’s concentrate on our policies so we can get the Tories out of office.”
