IT'S been no surprise that Marks & Spencer are closing stores around the area. It seems now that only in the big cities can the large retail shops survive.
The one reason that they are struggling is one word, price. Blaming online shopping isn’t the reason. If they had any sense, then do what others do and match the online price.
On the few occasions I have shopped online. I haven’t been impressed, it’s turned out to be no cheaper and the goods haven’t been what was expected.
With M&S why pay £30 for shirt when you can get the same for £10 at places like Matalan and Greenwoods.
All goods at M&S used to be made in the UK and sometimes locally, now it’s all imported and not very good quality which they prided themselves on.
It’s not the only answer, but with a re-think, I’m sure things can be turned around.
